Clay and Sips combine the fun and relaxation of a social gathering with a hands-on pottery experience where you will create your own unique pottery.

Our Clay and Sip experience is perfect for absolute beginners and anyone wanting to try their hand at pottery in a friendly, relaxed setting. Bring your partner, bring your friends, or bring your mum — it’s a great way to unwind and make something by hand with your loved ones.

Doors open at 5:45pm, giving you time to tour the Woolgoolga Gallery and enjoy the wonderful artworks on display.

By 6pm, you will be seated in the studio with your tutor, Luke Ford, ready to get your hands in clay and craft your very own handbuilt pottery!

A materials and kiln fee of $25 is payable on the day. This covers 1kg of clay, bisque and glaze firing, and finishing your piece in a clear glaze.

Please allow approximately six weeks for firing, glazing, and return of your finished pottery. You will be notified when your piece is ready to collect.

About the Tutor

Luke is an accomplished ceramic artist and educator with a deep passion for pottery. Holding a Diploma of Ceramics and a Cert IV in Adult Education, Luke brings both expert knowledge and a strong educational background to his classes. His experience spans wheel throwing, handbuilding, and slipcasting, with work encompassing both functional and sculptural ceramics.

Luke’s teaching philosophy is centred on fostering creativity and skill development in a supportive environment. His approachable and patient demeanour makes learning pottery accessible and enjoyable for students of all levels. Whether guiding beginners through their first pinch pot or helping advanced students refine their techniques, Luke is committed to nurturing each individual’s artistic journey.
