TSQ LIVE programming will welcome New York International Salsa Congress to celebrate its 25th Anniversary on September 2nd from 5:00 – 6:00 pm on the Broadway Plaza between 45th and 46th Streets, bringing Jeffrey and Julie Taveras to lead the ultimate salsa class. TSQ LIVE is NYC’s largest public programming series featuring DJ sets, live concerts, dance workshops, and more.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:
Jeffrey Taveras began his dance career with Santo Rico Dance Company, where he spent eight years before becoming Director of Santo Rico Queens and later the Santo Rico Pro Team. In 2016, he founded Huracan Dance Studio, which has since expanded across New York, Connecticut, and Toronto, serving more than 400 students.
Julie Taveras has been an integral part of Huracan Dance Company since its inception as an instructor, performer, and choreographer. She began dancing at Santo Rico at just five years old and, by age 15, was traveling internationally to perform and teach, with appearances throughout Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States.
Together, Jeffrey and Julie, along with Abel Taveras, are the producers of the New York International Salsa Congress (NYISC), celebrating its historic 25th Anniversary September 3–7, 2026, in New York City. This milestone celebration brings together dancers, artists, and Latin music lovers from around the world, with legendary salsa icon Gilberto Santa Rosa headlining this year’s festivities.

- Where and when should I arrive?
Check-in information will be emailed to you prior to the event. If you successfully registered for a class, you should receive a confirmation email that specifies the check-in location the day before the event.
If you register on the day of the event, you can check in at 45th St & Broadway (enter from the north and look for the check in signs).
You should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your class.
For contactless check-in, please have your ticket ready to scan on your smart device or printed out on the day of the event. - Will there be a live stream of this event?
No, there will not be a live stream. This event is in-person only.
- Is my registration transferable? Can I bring a guest under my registration?
No, registration is non-transferable and you cannot bring a guest under your registration. Each participant must register themselves in order to have their own ticket.
For children, a parent or guardian can register on behalf of the child but each individual participant needs their own ticket.
- Are children allowed to participate in this event?
Yes, but children under 18 must have a signed release on their behalf before they can enter the site. Releases will be available at check-in. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
- How do I get there?
Public transit options and more are listed on our Getting Around & Parking page. Your check-in location will be located within the center of Times Square's Bowtie, easily accessible by all subways that stop in the neighborhood and a variety of other transit options listed at the link above.
- Are there places to change on site? Are there lockers?
No, you should arrive dressed for class. There are no lockers or storage spaces available.
- Do I need to bring my own water?
Participants are encouraged to bring their own water / water bottles to keep themselves hydrated throughout the event. There is a hydration refill station (adjacent to the Red Steps) north of the plaza where the class is taking place so participants can refill their waters as needed. There are also handful of stores in the area where water can be purchased before or after the class.
- Are there public restrooms?
There are no public bathrooms provided.
- What happens if it rains?
This event will take place rain or shine!
Our hope is that the class will take place in its entirety, but the safety of instructors and participants is our top priority. In the event there is inclement weather, we will keep all attendees well informed if a class needs to be delayed or cancelled.
We encourage you to dress appropriately for the weather and hope to see you on Broadway for this energizing event! - Does the event offer accessibility accommodations?
Yes. This is an accessible event for people with disabilities. When you are completing your registration, there will be a place for you to input any accessibility accommodations you may have.

Sorry, no furry friends, reptiles, or other non-human companions are allowed into the event. Exception is granted for service dogs.
- Is smoking permitted at the event?
No, this event is held on the Broadway Plazas, which are smoke free year-round.
- How can I ensure that my friend and I can stand together?
Please register at the same time and then arrive together at least 15 minutes ahead of time at your designated check-in point. Unfortunately, you will not be able to “save” a spot for a guest that is arriving later.
- Who makes this event possible?
TSQ Live is produced by the Times Square Alliance, a non-profit organization that works to improve and promote Times Square so that it retains the creativity, energy and edge that have made it an international icon for over 100 years. As this is a free event, we rely on support from our fantastic partner, New York International Salsa Congress.
- Will you be permitting walk-ups for the event?
We absolutely recommend registering in advance to secure your slot for Salsa; however, we will be permitting walk-ups on the day of the event space-permitting and on a first come, first served basis.
