Tuesday Hackett Biodanza classes 2025
Event description
Start your year with an enriching 8 weeks of Biodanza, a movement using guided sessions with music, dance and connection. Bring vitality and joy during Feb - April with weekly Tuesday Biodanza classes at the Folk Dance Centre in Hackett, 114 Maitland St.
The first class on 11th February is **free** A great time to invite anyone that is keen to try Biodanza!
Gather in a beautiful hall and be invited with curated music to dances that lift your spirit and experience the joys of a Biodanza class.
Biodanza uses guided expressive movement to support your own unique movement and connection to the life within you. Dance at your own pace with no steps to learn.
What happens in a session?
Biodanza is offered in a group setting and is a facilitator guided movement class. The dancing portion of the evening involves an explanation of each dance with the facilitator sharing their dance for most dances, followed by the invitation to dance either as a group, individually within the group or in pairs. Participants explore movement, rhythm, emotion, and self-expression, unfolding into an experience of vivencia – which means to be vividly alive in the present moment.
Participants commonly share that they leave Biodanza sessions feeling more energetic, content, relaxed with better sleep and more connected with people and life. Research from Leipzig University, shows that this sense of wellbeing comes from the major biochemical and neurological rebalancing that happens in the body during a session.
Do I need any prior experience?
Everyone is welcome and no dance experience is required. There are no steps to learn and nothing to get right. It is a space for you to enjoy freedom of expression, to connect to your body and be more present with yourself and others. We start the sessions with a brief introduction followed by a facilitator guided movement class so there's nothing you need to know in advance!
What should I bring?
It’s a great idea to bring a water bottle and to wear comfortable, layered clothing that you can move in. We encourage dancing without shoes (if possible) in Biodanza, so please be prepared to dance barefoot or to wear nonslip socks.
