WHAT IS A REGGAE SOUND SYSTEM?

Sound system culture celebrates music that originated out of the tiny island of Jamaica that found its way into the UK through the wave of migration known as the Windrush generation. This underground music scene grew there and eventually spread to Europe, South America, Asia and all over the world.

A sound system is made up of a crew of music fanatics who transport huge specialised speakers to venues and play vinyl records on a specialised sound system using custom equipment. The sound system crew is made up of a selector, operator, ‘box’ crew and MC's to present music in a unique way that is both heard AND felt.
