Ki te Hoe webinar series session 1 - Te Tiriti in context: Where we have come from and where we are now

We welcome you to the Ki te Hoe Lunchtime zoom seminar Series!
Ki te Hoe is a partnership between Philanthropy New Zealand | Tōpūtanga Tuku Aroha o Aotearoa (PNZ), and Tūmanako Consultants Haimona Waititi, Erin Matariki Carr, Trent Hohaia, and Kate Frykberg. The partnership aims to build funder capacity to support Māori aspirations in a mana-enhancing way.
These sessions are free for PNZ members. The first session, 'Te Tiriti in context: Where we have come from and where we are now' will kick off the series.
Associate Professor Dr Veronica Tawhai (Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Uepohatu) joins Erin Matariki Carr and Haimona Waititi from Tūmanako Consultants to share some of the context of Te Tiriti and some history of Aotearoa NZ, and will also explore the implications of this for present-day funders. Bring your lunch, invite your colleagues and enjoy!
About Veronika Tawhai, Associate Professor:
Dr Veronica Tawhai (BA, MEd, PhD) is of Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Uepohatu descent, and currently holds the role of DVC Māori Pūkenga Tiriti at Massey University, Papaioea Palmerston North. She is a recipient of the Fulbright-Ngā Pae o Te Maramatanga scholar award, and has focused her research on conscientisation, Aotearoa New Zealand jurisprudence and social policy. Veronica led the rangatahi contingent of Matike Mai Aotearoa alongside Pā Moana Jackson and Whaea Margaret Mutu. Veronica has co-edited two books, authored several papers and presents widely on the issues of the Treaty of Waitangi, Māori and youth political engagement, constitutional transformation and electoral, civics and citizenship education. She is part of Te Ata Kura Educators and TEIA, and holds various roles within her communities. Ronnie is Mama to three tamariki, and Aunty to many more.
