Event description

Join Murrumbidgee Landcare and Biodiversity Conservations Trust for a special day of learning and cultural connection.

This unique event offers an opportunity to witness a Traditional Cultural Burn in the Tumut Wetlands, guided by Wiradjuri leaders Dan Minogue and Dean Freeman, along with the Wiradjuri Cultural Burn Team with support from the NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Forestry Corporation, Local Council and volunteers.

Discover how Cultural Burning, a practice used for centuries, supports biodiversity, reduces wildfire risks, and honours deep cultural connections to land. You’ll see fire on the ground, learn about mitigation techniques, and gain insight into land management through a cultural lens.

  • Mitigation techniques
  • Support and insights from RFS, Forestry Corp, and Local Council
  • A beautiful day of learning in nature

Morning tea provided. Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of bottled water.
Dress for the outdoors – sturdy shoes, long sleeves, long pants, and a hat are recommended.
