Turning Waste Into Worth
Event description
Turning Waste into Worth
Come and discover how a little creativity and circular thinking can turn everyday waste into something new!
In this friendly 30-minute talk (plus Q&A), the team from STREAT will share how they’re working with Queen Vic Market’s Purpose Precinct to give new life to discarded materials through social enterprise and community innovation.
You’ll hear about the Loopy Lab, where plastic bottle lids are transformed into colourful pens and carabiners — and you’ll see the process in action with a live pen-making demo. The team will also share stories from across the Purpose Precinct, including The Crow Sauce, the low-waste kitchen rescuing surplus fruit and veg, and the marketplace filled with clever, circular products made by local changemakers.
After the talk, you can chat with the makers, and even make your own recycled pen or carabiner to take home.
Join us for an inspiring and hands-on session that shows how small loops can create big change and everyday actions can help create a more sustainable community.
