Join Dolphin Research Australia and Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council this September to discover the world of marine mammals and how to take part in protecting them.
Friday 26th September 2025– Evening Presentation (Free Event)
Come along for an engaging evening presentation about the ecology, conservation and cultural importance of dolphins & whales in our region. Discover the latest findings, ongoing monitoring programs and how you can get involved in safeguarding our marine treasures.
Join marine mammal experts from Dolphin Research Australia and the Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council as they share scientific insights and cultural perspectives on these remarkable animals.
Date & Time: Friday 26th September, 6:00pm – 7:30pm (doors open 5.30pm)
Location: Fingal Head Surf Life Saving Club

Saturday 27th September – East Coast Dolphin Watch Citizen Science Workshop
Get hands-on experience in our East Coast Dolphin Watch Citizen Science Workshop. Learn standardised survey methods and how to record dolphin and whale sightings to help monitor populations along the coast. This workshop provides the tools and training you need to become an active dolphin and whale citizen scientist.
Date & Time: Saturday 27th September, 8:30am – 11:30am
Location: Fingal Head (details provided upon booking)
Cost: $30 (includes 12-month membership to Dolphin Research Australia, a Dolphin Watch handbook, and access to exclusive online resources)
Optional add-on workshop to the evening presentation

* Minimum age for the workshop is 11years (11-17 years must be accompanied by an adult)
** This event is weather dependent! In the event of cancellation of this workshop due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, an email will be sent to you no later than 48 hours prior to the event.

If you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your ticket to someone on the waiting list.
Evening Presentation (26th September): Free event – if you cannot attend, please cancel your booking so another community member can join.
Citizen Science Workshop (27th September): Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the workshop will receive a full refund.
Unfortunately, refunds cannot be issued for cancellations within 24 hours of the workshop start time.
If the workshop is cancelled due to weather, we will be in contact within 48hours prior to the event and reschedule as soon as possible.
