A Discussion for Parents on Gender and Sexuality
Event description
It can be tough to know how to best support children as they navigate their developing identities. This event is for any parent or caregiver who wants to better understand gender and sexuality, with a focus on the teen experience.
We’ll begin by exploring Jewish texts that speak to identity, respect, and the power of truly listening. Then, Dr. Karla Anhalt, a psychology professor at Kent State, will share research-based insights into how kids experience gender and identity as they grow. We’ll also hear from Sue Borison, a Jewish parent and community leader, who has navigated these topics both within her own family and through her work, including her role as founder and editor of Teen Magazine.
There will be space to ask questions, reflect, and connect. Whether your child identifies as LGBTQ+, is asking questions about their peers, or you're just looking to grow your understanding, this conversation is for you.
