Description

Our B’nei Mitzvah program broadens awareness of a wide-range of social issues and provides hands-on volunteering opportunities for our families to give back. It’s flexible, fun and extremely rewarding. 

Twelve & Thirteen families participate in meaningful volunteering sessions with our charity partners.

What’s involved:

• February:  Twelve & Thirteen Opening Workshop (Date TBD)

• Monthly volunteering sessions: 2 hour sessions, once a month during the school terms (1-3)

• August: Reflection Workshop  (Date TBD)

• September: Closing Showcase  (Date TBD)

Examples of past collaborations with charities: 

• Making meals for the homeless with Food Van

• Packing toys, games, books, craft kits and much more for seriously ill children with Koala Kids

• Playing basketball with youth from public housing with Helping Hoops

• Packing care kits for women & children experiencing homelessness & fleeing domestic violence with Impact

• Packing and meal deliveries for families experiencing food insecurity and social isolation with C Care

• Designing wishes for children with critical illnesses with Make-A -Wish Australia

And so much more...

What does the program offer :

• You'll go behind the scenes at some of Melbourne’s leading Jewish and non-Jewish charities, many of which are often closed to the public

• A special family shared experience:  you can choose to make this journey one between father and daughter, or mother and son, or mix it up with a different family member joining sessions each time. The choice is yours.

• Flexibility. We have sessions both in the morning and the afternoon. Many session are repeated allowing everyone the opportunity to attend all sessions and charities. 

• Opportunity to make new friends and connect with your community
