Twinkling Stars + Verdani + Monkey Fox
Description
Sydney and Wollongong-based Twinkling Stars began life late in 2018 as the creative vehicle of singer-songwriter, Jacob J B Serra. Drawing influence from the Australian and NZ post-punk scene, the group's sound also incorporates elements of alt-country, spoken word, free jazz and minimalist drone. The band has just released their second album and is looking forward to performing a selection of tracks this Thursday evening for you.
Verdani evokes the stark vulnerability of PJ Harvey, the soulful intensity of Jeff Buckley, the cinematic darkness of Nick Cave and the slow-burn elegance of The National…with moments of expansive psychedelia reminiscent of Pink Floyd. The band artfully blends these touchstones into something distinctly their own: epic songs built on haunting melodies, dynamic shifts and rich emotional weight.
