UMMTA'S INTO THE WOODS
Event description
Into The Woods follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
Into the Woods is more than a fairytale mash-up — it’s a story about the complexity of human experience, of choices made and consequences faced, of stepping beyond the safety of what we know and venturing into the unknown. For this production, our vision is to embrace the full depth of the “woods” — not just as a physical place, but as a metaphor for life itself. The woods represent the spaces of uncertainty, transformation, and growth — the complex, magical and sometimes frightening parts of growing up and learning through experience. UMMTA is excited to present this show and we hope you enjoy!
