UMSU Enviro x Amnesty International UniMelb x Green's Club | The Environmental Crisis is a Human Rights Crisis by Ruchi Aryal
Event description
Presented by UMSU Enviro, Amnesty International UniMelb and the UniMelb Greens Club,
Join us for an engaging seminar with Ruchi Aryal, an Environmental Science student at UniMelb, as she shares insights into how we can engage with the environmental crisis as a human rights crisis.
Scientists have been, for many years, warning us that we are hurtling towards an Anthropocene. Human activity has dramatically altered the natural environment and the impacts reverberate all across the globe. No region is left untouched by our insatiable consumption. Thus, no person is left unaffected by our degrading natural world. The environmental crisis is a human rights crisis, no matter how desperately we attempt to disconnect ourselves from nature.
We will also host Jamie Hodgson, the Amnesty National Board Director in Sustainability, to speak on this topic. This will be a great opportunity to connect with a professional in sustainability work!
This event is also in collaboration with the UniMelb Greens Club, and they will share their insights in how the Greens have worked in the field of sustainability and environmental issues.
The talk will be followed by a Q+A section.
