(Un)caged Words - Adelaide Launch of a book of Poetry and Illustrations
Description
Deborah Baldassi, is an established illustrator and has been a feature of the South Australian Living Artists Festival for years.
Meanwhile David Winderlich has done nothing more productive than stand transfixed in supermarket aisles riffing rhymes from the names of cleaning products.
But they have come together to launch David's first book of poetry, "(Un)caged Words",, which is graced by Deborah's vivid and delicately rendered illustrations.
With two launches for the price of one, this event is clearly a bargain!
But wait! There's more.
The launch will feature:
Live performances of several of the poems that began as songs.
Readings by SA thespian and folk musician Keith Preston and;
Rodger and Hammerstein aficiando Barry Johnson and;
Adelaide City Council Citizen of the Year and "rat bag extremist Mij Tanith and;
Someone else.
This event is indeed a bargain, but it will also be a revelation: Sheep, sperm, cops and rubbish bins have never been depicted this way.
More familiar themes like family and love and war are told with a twist in the tale, or take a road less travailed.
The launch will be held in one of Adelaide's historic literary haunts, Ern Malley at 137 Magill Road Stepney.
If you can't come but would like a copy of the book please select that option in the ticket section.
Oh and most important of all - free cheese! Well the establishment prefers "charcuterie platter." Ern Malley also has hot chips and other bar snacks.
Please eat quietly.
