WHAT IS UNBREAKABLE? or should that be WHO IS UNBREAKABLE?

Unbreakable - Inspired by the Barkley Marathons, known as the hardest ultra marathon in the USA if not the world conceived by the Legendary Lazarus Lake (aka) Gary Cantrell, Laz was inspired by the 1977 escape of James Earl Ray from Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. Ray was in prison for the assassination of Martin Luther King Junior and on his escape was only able to cover 13km in 55hrs in the Frozen Head State Park in Tennessee. Laz thought that was a poor effort and suggested he could have covered 100 miles in that time and so the Barkley Marathons was born ( Named after Laz's Neighbour and running friend Barry Barkley, who sadly passed away aged 70 on Dec 5th 2019.

Like the French created the Chartreuse Terminorum in 2017 inspired by the Barkley marathons, here in Australia we have Unbreakable, inspired by the Barkley marathons. The only question that truly remains is, What will remain unbreakable? 

Will it be you or the mountain, something will have too break.

Full Distances is 5 laps

Each Lap will reverse

Each lap could be between 25-50km

Each lap may contain upto 20 books "check points"

Lap 1 is the marshmellow (soft)

Lap 2 is the strawberry cream (sweet)

Lap 3 is the minty (fun)

Lap 4 is the mate (tough enough)

Lap 5 is the aniseed ball ( Unbreakable )

Well thats our nick names, you get the picture

Map skills, might be useful, navigation and trail running combined will get you well on the way, anything less and you become just a broken soul, having been chewed up and spat out on the forest floor. Or get smart and work together while allowed.

The hardest part of the unbreakable is the decision you are about to make, its all down hill after that

Some things you need to know.

This event requires you to be located in the vicinity of the start line on a Friday afternoon in June before race weekend, yes that means if you work Fridays, you will need to take the day off, Check in will be between Midday and 6pm Friday.

Start time between 7pm Fri and 7am Saturday, you will receive 1hrs notice.

Unbreakable is located near Marysville in Victoria, Australia

The location has been revealed as, near Marysville in what's known as the triangle, for some it might resemble the Bemuda triangle

Unbreakable will adopt several aspects of the Barkley Marathons

Including such things as unknown start time, we propose to track participants under strict guidelines of use of tracking devices which will double as your emergency help device, often known as smart phones carried in sealed non see through waterproof bag. Therefore your entry requires you have a smartphone and the loaded App. No other apps can be active on the phone, only the tracking App, else runners disqualified.

This is an event designed to challenge and break your spirit, while achievable its expected it will take more than your first attempt to do so, but we are happy to be proven wrong, and congratulate the unbreakable.
