Event description

Uncomfortable Science is a musical experiment in sweet controlled chaos, led by Melbourne’s own Lachlan Mitchell aka Laneous.

With nothing but a whiteboard and wild intuition, Lachlan scribbles spontaneous chord progressions that a rotating cast of phenomenal musicians transform into fully improvised sonic journeys—no rehearsals, no safety nets, just raw, real-time creation.

And what musicians! Joining Laneous for this glorious night of experimental music are not one but two pianists! - Novak Manjlovic and Danny Pliner, along with Alon Ilsar on drums and Jonathan Zwartz playing double bass.

After making waves in Melbourne, Uncomfortable Science is heading north to Sydney, bringing its thrilling brand of musical alchemy to Church St Studios.

Think jazz, groove, and cosmic energy—think fast, because the music doesn’t wait.

Your favourite musicians’ favourite musician, Laneous is self taught, prodigious and brilliantly fearless.

Championed by such taste makers as the BBC's Giles Peterson, and reputedly a significant influence on Hiatus Kaiyote, - contributing songs, mixtapes and cover art to Hiatus’ albums Tawk Tomahawk and Choose Your Weapon, - Laneous headed a sold out shows at this year's Sydney Festival in a collaboration with the Starfish Club.
