After 55 years of teaching classical realism, David Hardy has retired at age 95, entrusting his vision to the Underpainting Collective—a dedicated group of students and collaborators committed to carrying forward this vital tradition. Now facing a pivotal transition, we invite you to help secure the future of this invaluable community resource.

This special evening will bring together past, present, and future generations of the atelier to honor David's legacy and support the future of classical realism in Oakland. Enjoy local food and refreshments while browsing prints, zines, buttons, and other items for sale. Featuring a live auction with original artwork from collective members and community artists!

Our program will begin at 7PM. Bidding will close at 8PM. Auction winners will have an opportunity to take their art pieces home following our event.

ACCESSIBILITY INFO

• The building is ADA accessible with gender neutral bathrooms.

• The nearest bus stop is 250 feet away (AC Transit #62). The nearest BART station, Fruitvale, is 1.1 miles away.

• Small foods and refreshments will be provided for free with a suggested donation. 

• Mask up. Masks will be available at our registration table. We'll have air purifiers throughout the space. 

• If you are feeling sick, please don't come, but prioritize getting well. We'll miss you and lift you up in your absence.
