Understand Your Brain & How to Care for It
Event description
Understand Your Brain and How to Care for It, with Neuroscientist and UNSW Conjoint Lecturer Dr Hayley North
Improving mental health and wellbeing should start with an understanding of the organ responsible for them: the brain. In this seminar, we will go on a journey deep inside our brain, from the function of brain cells and neural networks to important brain regions. We will then use that understanding to uncover four key principles of brain function and discuss strategies to help it function optimally to improve wellbeing.
Topics include:
- the brain's capacity for change
- its reliance on habits and subconscious processing
- how physical health impacts mental health
You will leave knowing the steps you can take to work with your brain, not against it.
Understand Your Brain is provided for all UNSW staff by the Division of Operations.
