An IP address is often the single most critical starting point for linking online criminal activity to a specific device and, ultimately, to a suspect. This isn't limited to cybercrime units. Local investigators run into IP data in fraud cases, harassment complaints, threats made online, and everyday property crimes, often without a clear framework for interpreting it, acting on it, or documenting it in a way that holds up legally.

Understanding and Tracing IP Addresses is a focused, 4-hour operational training that gives investigators a structured, step-by-step process for locating and tracing IP and MAC addresses in criminal investigations. No specialized unit, software, or prior technical background is required. Participants will leave with practical tools, applied techniques, and the foundational knowledge needed to build a defensible digital evidence trail on their very next case.
