Understanding Autism - Auckland
Event description
The team at Children's Autism Foundation (now proudly integrated with Autism New Zealand) presents "Understanding Autism", a 2‐hour workshop for parents/caregivers, support workers and any professionals who engage with children and young people on the autism spectrum. You will leave this workshop with a better understanding of autism and with some simple strategies to support the children you work with.
Topics include:
- What is Autism?
- What does Autism look like in children & young people?
- Common challenges faced by an autistic child.
- Identifying strengths in a child on the Autism Spectrum
- Practical strategies & tips for supporting or teaching a child on the Autism Spectrum
- Autism Q&A
Facilitated by Jo Sutton
Jo is a National Educator at Autism New Zealand. She is proud mum of three children, one of whom is Autistic. Jo is passionate about supporting Autistic children and their whanau to live their absolute best lives.
Cost: Per Family – $20 / Professionals – $50 (working in disability sector)
