Children's Autism Foundation (New Zealand) presents "Understanding Autism", an online workshop for parents/caregivers, support workers, teachers, teacher aides and any professionals who engage with children and young people on the Autism Spectrum.

You will leave this live online workshop with a better understanding of Autism and with simple strategies to support your child or the children you work with. 

This workshop is excellent for parents/caregivers of children who have recently received an ASD diagnosis, or for families on the pathway to diagnosis.

Topics include:

  • What is Autism & how is Autism diagnosed?
  • What does Autism look like in children & young people?
  • Common challenges faced by a child on the Autism Spectrum
  • Identifying strengths in a child on the Autism Spectrum
  • Practical strategies & tips for supporting or teaching a child on the Autism Spectrum

Plus plenty of time for Q&A at the end of the session.

Facilitated by Jeanita Cush-Hunter.  

Jeanita is a Family Consultant at Children’s Autism Foundation, working with parents, caregivers & teachers of children on the Autism Spectrum. She is an experienced secondary school teacher and proud mum of two sons, one of whom is Autistic. Jeanita is passionate about supporting Autistic children and their whanau to live their absolute best lives. 

Cost: $25 (non-refundable booking fee)
