Description

Coercive Control- Online Short Course
2hr Short Course

Coercive control is a pattern of behaviours used by perpetrators of family and domestic violence (FDV) that undermines another person’s autonomy, safety, and well-being.

While often subtle or hidden, its impacts on victims are profound.

This short course provides a clear introduction to coercive control — what it is, how it operates, and why recognising it early can change lives.

Through this interactive and reflective short course, you will:

  • Recognise the signs and tactics commonly used by perpetrators isolate, control, and intimidate victim‑survivors.

  • Deepen your understanding of coercive control as a form of FDV.

  • Understand the lived impacts on victim‑survivors, including the erosion of choice, agency and safety.

  • Learn safe, supportive ways to respond, whether you are a professional, colleague, friend, neighbour, or community member.

  • How to access practical resources and referral pathways that prioritise safety and informed, trauma‑aware support.

This session is educational, not therapeutic.
It is designed to build community capability, strengthen responses, and support a collective commitment to ending violence against women.

Why This Course Matters

  • A survivor‑centred approach
Learn communication and response strategies that uphold dignity, choice, and respect.

  • Clarity in complexity
Coercive control can be hard to spot from the outside. This training provides the language, confidence, and insights needed to recognise patterned abuse early.

  • Community responsibility
Ending violence is a shared effort. Increased awareness and safe, informed responses from community members can create meaningful pathways to safety.
