Understanding Energy Policy: A Uniting Church conversation
Event description
Energy is making headlines this election — but what’s behind the promises?
From rising bills to bold climate claims, it can be hard to know which energy policies stack up, and which fall short. As Christians, we’re called to seek truth, justice, and the common good — not only for ourselves, but for future generations.
This online forum is designed for Uniting Church members and friends who want to think deeply and faithfully about the energy choices we face this federal election. Together, we’ll learn more about the major parties' policies, how they compare, and what they mean for the environment, cost of living, and a fairer, more sustainable future.
Our Speakers:
Rev Lindsay Cullen
Associate General Secretary, Uniting Church in Australia Assembly
Rev Lindsay will reflect on the Christian call to engage thoughtfully with the issues of our time — and why voting with care and conscience is part of how we live our faith in action.
Dr Brad Smith
Policy & Advocacy Director, Nature Conservation Council
Brad will unpack the key questions around energy policy, including:
-
Why are energy prices rising, and what can be done about it?
What are the major parties actually promising?
-
What are the impacts for affordability, climate change, and our energy future?
There will also be time for your questions.
This is a non-partisan event. We're not telling you how to vote — we're here to support one another in casting an informed and faithful vote.
