Understanding Harmful Behaviours & Bystander Intervention
Description
Understanding Harmful Behaviours and Bystander Intervention is part of the University’s commitment to providing a supportive and safe environment to prevent harmful behaviours such as gendered harassment, racial microaggressions, and cyberabuse on campus. This training session assists participants in understanding how harmful behaviours are expressed in our community and provides a framework for intervening safely.
Key takeaways
At the end of this training, participants will be able to:
Understand harmful behaviours and how they are experienced within the Australian and university context
Identify ways to create safer environments and practice using bystander intervention strategies in a range of scenarios
Identify available support services and existing escalation protocols, including how to use the Supporting Students in Distress guide.
Reflect upon how oppression manifests and is reinforced through our social and work environments
Inclusive and Respectful Communities (IARC) provides a suite of evidence-informed capacity building workshops, all of which can be made bespoke to your context. All workshops are conversational and interactive, contain scenario-based learning, and are facilitated by experienced prevention practitioners. Workshops are free for ANU staff and students.
Please note - this workshop will be held in person on the ANU Acton campus. If you would like to access an online opportunity, please contact respect@anu.edu.au
