Understanding the housing crisis

A short course to increase your understanding of the housing crisis in Wales. 

What's it about? 

The housing crisis continues to hit hard. Individuals and families are being let down by our housing market, with a lack of affordable homes and wider cost of living pressures among the factors that mean many people have nowhere to call home. 

This introductory course will give you an insight into housing in Wales, including the homes which people live in and the organisations responsible for providing them, regulating them and planning for more.  It will also explain the key elements of the housing crisis in terms of supply, affordability and suitability.

By attending this course, you’ll gain: 

• Understanding of why housing matters 

• Awareness of where people in Wales live 

• Knowledge of the organisations involved in housing and who is responsible for what 

• Insights into the key elements of the housing crisis – supply, affordability and suitability 

The training will be delivered in English via Teams. 

Who should attend? 

The course will be of interest to anyone who is starting work in the housing sector, as well as the many organisations, from public bodies to charities who work alongside housing organisations or hear about the impact of the housing crisis on the people they support. 

It will also be useful for people working within governmental institutions and agencies who want to understand how housing fits into the wider policy landscape.
