Clydesdale Unicorn (Jarrah Schmah)
Somatic Experiencing (SE) Psychotherapist | Mindfulness Facilitator | Mediator |
Transpersonal Bodyworker with roots in Kahuna Lomi Lomi
Clydesdale Unicorn is an insightful therapist who brings a comprehensive range of therapeutic modalities, including Somatic Experiencing (SE), mindfulness practices, Transpersonal bodywork and Nonviolent Communication (NVC) to their practice.
As a Somatic Experiencing (SE) practitioner, Clydesdale understands the profound connection between the mind and body in processing and healing trauma.
Clydesdale's sessions enable difficult feelings and overwhelm to dissolve, fostering clarity and a relaxed nervous system. With compassion and gentleness, Clydesdale guides clients in exploring emotions and memories safely, gradually deactivating blocked or frozen experiences.
Sessions with Clydesdale are an effective way to address trauma related to grief, anger, shame, anxiety or intimacy, empowering clients to address subconscious issues without the need for extensive disclosure of past traumas. Clydesdale’s approach allow disturbances in the nervous system to be integrated and "digested" in achievable amounts, to incrementally decrease trauma and contractions. Jarrah assists clients with respectful presence, allowing trauma and anxieties to naturally unwind and integrate, leading to emotional and behavioural shifts.
Mindfulness is a foundational aspect of Clydesdale's therapeutic approach. Through mindfulness and awareness practices, Jarrah helps individuals cultivate a deeper connection with their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. With heightened self-awareness, clients develop a greater sense of clarity and inner peace, enabling them to navigate life's challenges with a sense of groundedness and harmony.
Clydesdale is a longtime passionate advocate for Nonviolent Communication (NVC), recognising the transformative power of compassionate communication in fostering understanding and deepening connections. Using SE and NVC in mediation, Jarrah helps individuals and couples navigate conflict and disputes with empathy, paving the way for constructive resolution and strengthening bonds in relationships.
Clydesdale possesses a genuine ability to connect and create a safe and nurturing space for exploration and growth.
Outside therapeutic practice, Clydesdale leads a life of multifaceted pursuits as a musician and singer/songwriter, and enjoys walks in nature, dance meditation, gardening and protecting forests.
"Working with Jarrah has tapped into a side of me that has wanted to be acknowledged and released for decades. Their soothing presence and their calm, gentle way of being with me as I work through this process leaves me feeling safe and seen".
“Jarrah's approach is great. Comes from a place of healing, understanding and warmth. You feel comfortable and supported when talking about anything. The focus on the nervous system and NVC (Nonviolent Communication) really helped me, I am learning to be aware of those around me and to know when and how to engage others. Truly feeling like a better human for the time I have had with Jarrah.”
Somatic Experiencing Therapy
(heal present and historical trauma)
SE Therapy empowers individuals and couples to restore harmony by discharging stored energy from past traumas, fostering a deep sense of self-awareness and healing.
What is Somatic Experiencing Therapy?
Somatic Experiencing (SE) Therapy, developed by Dr. Peter A. Levine, is a gentle yet powerful therapeutic method designed to address the impacts of trauma and stress stored within the body. It recognises that overwhelming experiences can leave lasting imprints on our nervous system, leading to emotional and physical dysregulation. SE Therapy empowers individuals to restore harmony by discharging stored energy from past traumas, fostering a deep sense of self-awareness and healing.
How Does Somatic Experiencing Therapy Work?
In Somatic Experiencing Therapy, therapists guide you through a process of reconnecting with your body's natural capacity for healing and self-regulation. Through gentle exploration of bodily sensations and responses, you learn to listen to the wisdom of your body and release lingering tension or unresolved emotions.
For individuals, Somatic Experiencing offers a path to healing from the effects of personal traumas, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation. It helps you reconnect with your innate capacity for resilience, promoting emotional well-being and empowering you to live a more fulfilling life.
For couples, Somatic Experiencing Therapy becomes a catalyst for renewed connection and understanding. By addressing emotional triggers and patterns at their core, SE Therapy empowers couples to communicate more effectively, foster emotional intimacy, and rebuild trust.
