Understanding your nervous system : A Path to Greater Connection, Creativity & Wellbeing
Event description
Understanding your nervous system : A Path to Greater Connection, Creativity & Wellbeing
Our nervous systems shape how we experience the world—affecting our ability to connect, collaborate, and create. Yet, most of us move through life without a deep understanding of how our nervous system works or how we can support it.
This online workshop introduces Polyvagal Theory as a powerful tool for understanding and regulating your nervous system. Whether you’re navigating high-pressure work environments, engaging in deep creative work, leading teams, or simply seeking more balance in your daily life, this session offers practical insights and strategies to help you build resilience, strengthen relationships, and cultivate a greater sense of ease.
At the heart of Polyvagal Theory is the idea that our nervous system is constantly scanning for cues of safety or danger—shaping how we show up in our work, relationships, and communities. When we better understand this, we can learn to work with our nervous system rather than against it.
Why This Matters
Many of us are feeling the impact of chronic stress, uncertainty, and pressure—whether through the growing issue of burnout, the demands of fast-moving, high-stakes work, or the emotional toll of engaging deeply with complex challenges. But supporting your nervous system isn’t just about avoiding burnout—it’s about cultivating the conditions for clarity, creativity, and connection.
By learning how to identify and regulate your nervous system states, you can increase your capacity to navigate complexity, foster collaboration, and show up more fully in all areas of life.
What You’ll Gain from This Session
✔️ Understand how your nervous system shapes your interactions and wellbeing
We’ll explore the three core states of the nervous system—social engagement (ventral vagal), fight/flight (sympathetic), and shutdown (dorsal vagal)—and how they impact decision-making, communication, and emotional resilience.
✔️ Recognise your own nervous system patterns
By understanding your stress responses and triggers, you’ll be able to stay more present and engaged, even in high-pressure situations. This can improve team dynamics, reduce misunderstandings, and create a culture of empathy in workplaces and relationships.
✔️ Learn to identify “glimmers”
Glimmers—those small moments of safety, joy, and connection—help signal to your nervous system that you are safe. We’ll explore how building awareness of these moments can help shift your state towards calm, creativity, and collaboration.
✔️ Create a personalised self-care and team-care map
Participants will develop a practical self-care strategy based on their own nervous system needs, identifying which practices restore balance and how to integrate them into daily life.
Who is This Session For?
This session is designed for anyone looking to better understand their nervous system and its role in their personal and professional life. It’s particularly relevant for:
- Leaders, facilitators, and team members looking to build cultures of care, collaboration, and innovation.
- Professionals in high-stress environments who want to develop greater resilience and emotional regulation.
- Creatives, designers, and change-makers navigating uncertainty and complexity in their work.
- Anyone curious about the science of stress, connection, and human behaviour.
Why This Work Matters
The more we understand our nervous systems, the better we can support ourselves, each other, and the systems we are part of. This session isn’t just about reducing stress or avoiding burnout—it’s about developing the awareness and tools to navigate life and work with more ease, clarity, and connection.
We live in an era of complexity, rapid change, and increasing demands. The ability to self-regulate and co-regulate with others is foundational—not only for personal wellbeing but for building workplaces, communities, and systems that are more sustainable and human-centred.
