Children's Autism Foundation (now proudly integrated with Autism New Zealand) presents "Understanding PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance)", a live online workshop for parents & whanau and any professionals who engage with children and young people on the autism spectrum. You will leave this workshop with a better understanding of PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) & avoidant behaviours in autistic children & young people. You will also learn simple & practical strategies to support your child or the children you work with.

Topics include:

  • What is PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) & avoidant behaviour?
  • How to build trust and self-confidence in children to enable them to cope more flexibly with the demands of everyday life.
  • How to adapt your communication to the needs of your child.
  • Practical strategies & a PDA "toolkit" to better support autistic children & young people.

Plus plenty of time for Q&A at the end of the session.

Facilitated by Jo Sutton

Jo is a National Educator at Autism New Zealand. She is proud mum of three children, one of whom is autistic. Jo is passionate about supporting autistic children and their whanau to live their absolute best lives.

This workshop is FREE for parents/caregivers/whanau thanks to support from Frozen Funds.

Professionals $25 incl GST
