UniSC Theatre Company presents The Just Price of Flowers
Written by James Yarker for Stan’s Cafe
The Just Price of Flowers was written for the internationally renowned, Birmingham-based devising company Stan’s Cafe.
When a local florist introduces the exotic tulip to their Dutch community in the mid seventeenth century, two neighbors seize a ludicrous opportunity beyond their budgetary means in order to improve their social status and wealth. After a series of wild financial speculations transpire, the town's financial systems are strained to their very core. Come see this entertaining play's Brechtian take on the 1637 Tulip Mania crisis, the world of finance and its parallels to the 2008 Financial Crisis.
