Voices for Change - Imagining a future without gendered violence
Event description
The impact of gendered violence is felt widely across our diverse community and
the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence – It All Starts with Respect
support us to work together for a safer, more caring Merri-bek community.
You are warmly invited to join us for
Voices for Change Merri-bek Community Forum – Imagining a Future Without Gendered Violence
The forum invites you to imagine what a world without gendered violence could look like and to explore how each of us can play a part in making it happen.
What You Can Expect:
Open and respectful conversations about gendered violence in our community (without personal stories or explicit details)
A creative, inclusive space to learn from one another and imagine new ways forward towards safety and equality
Small group discussions and activities that spark hope, connection and potential for collective action
A shared process that will help shape Council’s policies and community initiatives.
Who this is for
Community leaders, advocates, service providers and residents from Merri-bek’s diverse community who care about creating a more respectful and equitable community and
who are keen to explore how we can relate/ connect, listen and act together to create lasting change.
Why it matters
Gendered violence is preventable. Change happens when communities, services and local government work together to strengthen connections, challenge inequality and shift attitudes.
This is how we can play a part in a ‘whole- of-community’ approach to change.
About the facilitator
The session will be facilitated by Tathra Street, a Merri-bek local and Leadership Futurist, who helps people imagine better futures and turn shared values into practical action.
Tathra specialises in inclusive leadership, systems change and creating spaces for communities to face challenging issues.
