Event description

Social Impact Hub is thrilled to present a unique opportunity for social enterprises, and those who support social enterprises, to join a dynamic and insightful short course, "Unleashing the Potential of Social Enterprise: Operationalising and Scaling for Impact", facilitated by the distinguished Jim Bildner, CEO of Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation, a leading global venture philanthropy fund.

Drawing upon his extensive expertise as a trustee of The Kresge Foundation and the Nonprofit Finance Fund amongst countless other roles, and adapted from his Harvard Kennedy School social enterprise course, this virtual course distills decades of wisdom acquired from investing in and supporting early-stage social enterprises.

Participants will gain the knowledge and skills needed to operationalise and scale a social enterprise, including creating dynamic strategies, key implementation skills, and garnering the resources needed to create meaningful impact. Critical to these skills, you will be taught to envisage different 'end games' – the pathways from your enterprise's current state to a position of enduring influence. The course includes a variety of global case studies of successful social enterprise scaling strategies.

COURSE COMPONENTS

There are three components:

  1. Pre-reading of global learning resources on scaling social enterprises, including expert thought leadership pieces and provocations to help you prepare for the masterclasses;
  2. Two 1.5 hr masterclasses over two days;
  3. Following the masterclasses you will receive educational resources from Social Impact Hub and, for full-paying attendees, subsidised coaching will be offered from one of our Professional Impact Network consultants to support implementation.

The course stresses the 'how to' aspect of scaling a social enterprise, and participants will gain insights that transcend theory and dive into practical, actionable steps. This series is intended for social enterprises with a serious commitment to scaling their impact, and anyone who wants to best support them to do so. The masterclasses will be run on Thursday 20th June and Thursday 27th June from 9.30AM - 11.00AM AEST.
