          HOST AND SPEAKERS:

          Host: Damien Millen, Chief of Staff and General Counsel, ANDHealth

          With executive management and board level experience spanning government, commercial and academic sectors, Damien Millen brings strong management, advisory and industry sector knowledge to ANDHealth. Damien has specialised in the areas of innovation, commercialisation, law and investment. With a demonstrable track record in achieving high yield investments for government and commercial parties, Damien is recognised for providing high-quality advice to government and the sector and leading high value projects within government and industry. 

          He has deep experience in developing and implementing complex agreements and projects on a state, national and international level and sourcing funding and development of innovative, early stage technologies. Damien has tertiary qualifications in law, biotechnology, technology management, finance and investment. He was admitted as a Legal Practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW in 1998.

          Susan Feitoza, Research Partnerships Manager, RMIT Australia

          Susan Feitoza is a Research Partnerships Manager in Research and Innovation supporting the STEM College in the biomedical and health focus area. Susan joined RMIT in Melbourne after working at RMIT’s European hub in Barcelona, Spain facilitating EU grants development and a secondment at RMIT Vietnam in Research Services.

          Prior to joining RMIT, Susan completed the MOEBIO Design Health Barcelona fellowship, the first Stanford University medtech biodesign program in Spain and worked for a number of successful spinouts. She spent several years with Thomson Reuters as Institutional Relations Director in biomedical communications bringing research and medical education to partners around the globe in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia. She holds a law degree and license to practice law in New York, US.

          Dr Craig Richmond, Research and Impact Manager, RMIT Europe

          Craig is an expert in European proposal development and project management, with more than five years of experience in developing proposals and supporting EU funded projects, particularly those in MSCA.

          He has a background in research from his time as a MSCA Postdoctoral Fellow and PhD graduate working on projects in synthetic chemistry and catalysis. As Research and Impact Manager at RMIT Europe, Craig leverages his technical background, knowledge of funding mechanisms and established professional network of partners to identify and support collaborative opportunities in Europe for RMIT researchers.

          Dr Rémi Safi, Research Fellow, Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute

          Rémi completed her PhD in Biology, Chemistry and Health at the Paul Sabatier University, France in 2015. She moved to the American University of Beirut (in Lebanon, her hometown) to start her research career as a postdoctoral research fellow.

          Along with Rémi’s research activities, she was enrolled as an instructor of biology and chemistry at the Saint-Joseph University of Beirut.

          In 2021, Rémi moved to Barcelona to pursue new scientific challenges and joined the Josep Carreras Leukemia research institute. She obtained the MSCA postdoctoral fellowship for the 2021 call and the Lady Tata memorial trust for leukemia research in 2022. Currently, her research project focuses on deciphering the role of lipid droplets in the pathogenesis and chemoresistance of acute myeloid leukemia.
