Untitled Part 1: Everything & Nothing

We’d like to present the next film for Liberation Cinema, Untitled Part 1: Everything & Nothing. An interview with Lebanese resistance fighter, Soha Bechara. Situated entirely with a dorm room in Paris, the film focuses on Bechara’s oral recollection of ten years under Israeli imprisonment (six spent in isolation) at the infamous El-Khiam torture and interrogation centre. Although the interview goes just under an hour, Bechara’s presence possesses such ease and beguilement. Filmmaker Jayce Salloum asks his question in french and Bechara responds, looking directly into the camera, in Arabic. Without the need to satisfy Salloum, she speaks freely and intimately of her life before joining the Lebanese National Resistance, status as a symbol of resistance, and the bonds formed during her years imprisoned.
We’ll also be showing Beirut, My City. A short film collaboration between Lebanese filmmaker Jocelyne Saab and playwright Roger Assaf. In the outbreak of Isreali’s renewed 1982 invasion of south Lebanon, Saab takes a camera through the aftermath of devastating shelling of both camps and neighbourhoods. This essay-like short film comes with a strong content warning for depictions of dead bodies and widespread destruction.
Join The Dots is not a wheelchair accessible venue, though we are working towards making the space fully accessible and inclusive of everyones needs. Please find detailed accessibility notes here.
