University of Newcastle Reconciliation Ball 2025
Event description
The Wollotuka Institute, in partnership with the Equity and Engagement, Research and Innovation, Academic and Resources Divisions, is excited to announce the Reconciliation Ball 2025.
Enjoy an elegant cocktail evening featuring the voices of some of our incredible students, captivating performances by NAISDA Dance College and local didge kids, as well as tunes from Wiradjuri Queen of the Decks DJ c_h_l__o_e. Guests will also have the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative weaving installation facilitated by the University's Galleries team that threads together community and culture. On this night we will honour the resilience, culture, and stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our region and beyond.
This special event embodies the National Reconciliation Week 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, which reflects the ongoing connection between past, present, and future. It acknowledges the truth of our history, the strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures today, and the path we walk together toward a more just and equitable future. This theme challenges us to take meaningful action, ensuring reconciliation is not just a conversation but a continuous journey of learning, respect, and progress.
The Wollotuka Institute proudly celebrated 40 years of excellence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and research in 2023. Watch this video
