What the Course Covers
Across the sessions, participants will develop skills in colour mixing, washes, and brushwork while creating expressive landscape compositions. Individual guidance is provided throughout to support each artist’s progress and confidence.
Watercolour’s fluid, luminous qualities make it ideal for interpreting the natural landscape. Drawing on examples from his own practice, Henry will introduce techniques used by both contemporary and historical watercolourists, guiding participants step by step.
Each session begins with a demonstration, followed by guided making and one-on-one support.
Facilitator
Henry Smith is an artist, sculptor, and educator based in Central Australia. With decades of experience in painting, sculpture, and arts education, his work is inspired by the unique landscapes of the region, from ancient geological formations and expansive skies to ghost gums, waterholes, and red earth. Henry brings a wealth of knowledge to his workshops, combining practical demonstrations with personalised guidance to help participants develop confidence and skill in watercolour painting.
Please note: while Henry Smith is the primary facilitator for this course, alternate facilitators may lead some sessions if required.
