Upcycling Card-Making Sessions: Sew-for-Purpose
Event description
Using only second-hand paper removed from books otherwise destined to become recycling or waste, these workshops will guide and support you to create your own unique and beautiful upcycled creations, such as a card with envelope (or two!), some gift tags and / or bookmarks - and which you'll get to take home at the end of the session.
The upcycled paper has already been carefully removed from the books, and organised into a range of themes for participants to enjoy browsing through, such as nature, animals, kids, retro, historical, music sheets, maps, sports, and many others (seeing the many prints on old pages and gorgeous imagery is one of my fave parts to the process!).
During this workshop, we will:
discuss upcycling design elements, such as storytelling and inspiration
go though step-by-step assembly tips for the various types of creations
teach some basic machine sewing skills (no experience needed, and we'll provide the sewing machine) as part of the making process.
provide guidance for contributing a personalised bookmark to our Stitches for Strength initiative (involves stitching a unique bookmark for a person experiencing hardship, with a message of support and strength personally included on it by its maker)
The workshop is designed both as an introductory session for if you are attending for the first time, as well as to be enjoyable and adapt easily for if you wish to attend and do upcycled crafting with us regularly :-)
We look forward to doing some upcycled crafting with you soon!
