Upscale 2020
Event description
Upscale is a national DESIGN and BUILD event for design students.
The design phase of the event will take place over two days with students coming together virtually for the reading of the brief, collaboration and mentoring. The winning proposals in each state will see their designs come to life through the build phase later in 2020 where their design will be built 1:1
The social and environmental changes that Australia has faced over the last few months has created interruptions to all aspects of our lives. As students of the built environment it can be difficult to comprehend positivity for our future post disruptive interruptions that have a direct impact to the communities of which we live, work and learn in. Climate change, natural disasters and a global pandemic are examples of such interruptions. We believe that a state of renewal is a way of thinking that can allow us to see positivity during and after these interruptions.
Upscale will allow students to work together to find ways to renew; to resume after an interruption or give fresh life to their communities that have been disrupted during these times.
Participating in Upscale
1. SONA members participate for FREE register your interest here
2. Non SONA members can join SONA here and come back to complete the registration. Membership is only $29 for the rest of the year
3. Connect to your states reading of the brief session on Friday 22 May (More info about this to follow)
4. At the reading of the brief session receive the brief at the same time as students all over Australia.
5. START DESIGNING!
6. Submit your proposal on Sunday 24 May
