Price FREE Get tickets

Event description

Abbotsford Convent is hosting a one-day special event with the future play lab, an experimental urban play-focused research lab at RMIT, featuring workshops with Indigenous and LGBTQI+ community leaders N'arweet Carolyn Briggs and Professor Katherine Johnson.

Play at being an urban designer and explore with us ways to build places for creativity and belonging on the future streets of Naarm Melbourne. The day will include a hands-on workshop using Lego to create future streets, engage in collective and collaborative music games, walk along the river and learn about Indigenous plants and hidden stories.

Lunch is included - please also bring your own water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, and umbrella if needed!

Over the course of the day we invite you to share your own feelings and reflections, experiences and stories about the city post-pandemic. It’s up to us to design the world we want together, what will it be?

The workshop is for the duration of the day, however everyone is encouraged and able to take breaks throughout; there will be plenty of chill out space. The activities will also be split with an hour long lunch that will cater to dietary requirements. Lunch will be covered by Urban Commons.

The afternoon workshop is a short, leisurely walk outdoors with many stops along the way. Participation is at your pace, comfort and ability with staff available for support. Please be mindful of weather conditions, dress appropriately and bring a water bottle.
