Urban Greening and Cooling
Description
Climate change is affecting our cities, and urban greening plays a vital role in responding to it. This session presented by Sustainable Gardening Australia explores how trees, shrubs, grasses and flowers form an urban forest that helps cool our built environments while supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation.
Participants will learn about climate change, the urban heat island effect, and how vegetation can reduce heat in our communities. The session also highlights how people naturally gravitate toward green spaces and encourages us to imagine living, working and playing in greener environments every day. Creating this urban forest is a shared responsibility, and this session will show how everyone can contribute.
This event will be held at Meeting Room 2, Nunawading Community Hub.
