Event description

Ready to lead the way in creating water-sensitive cities?  Be Adelaide’s new generation of urban water leaders.

Advancing water-sensitive cities requires collaboration among diverse, passionate leaders to create a shared vision, align tasks, and foster broad engagement. This demands professionals who not only possess technical and management expertise but also strong leadership skills to drive change.

Water Sensitive SA, in partnership with the International Water Centre at Griffith University, is committed to developing these urban water leaders, believing that effective leadership, capacity building and innovative water management are key to solving complex water challenges.

Key learnings

  • Overview of fundamental concepts relating to leadership and leadership development.

  • Understand leadership in the context of driving positive change in the water sector, including the nature of significant leadership roles that are commonly seen in successful case studies.

  • Increased capacity to engage in self-leadership (as the foundation for all other forms of leadership development), team leadership (including leading virtual and hybrid teams), leading across boundaries with little authority, and adaptive leadership to address complex problems;

  • Personal self-assessment exercises, group discussions, guest speakers, stories/case studies, local mentoring, and reflection exercises

  • Ability to establish self-developmental activities (e.g. local mentoring, using a developmental plan, and getting feedback from colleagues);

  • Confidence to develop pathways for individual and collective leadership capacity following participation in the course.

Please ensure you are able to attend all three in person workshop dates before registering: 22 July, 24 September and 25 November 2025.
