Webinar #44 | Ursula Dubosarsky - Holding Your Nerve
Event description
Creativity – Holding Your Nerve
In conversation with Robyn Ewing, Ursula will discuss the tangled process of creating imaginative literature for children, with all its pleasures, discoveries and frustrations and failures. Every book can feel like you are starting all over again, full of uncertainty and demanding a different approach to reach its destination. She will also talk about her recent two-year term (during the Covid lockdown) as the Australian Children’s Laureate, a national position for the encouragement and celebration of children’s reading.
Ursula Dubosarsky was born and lives in Sydney and wanted to be a writer from the age of six. She is now the author of over 60 books for children and young adults, including picture books, chapter books, novels and non-fiction. Over the years her books have won the NSW, Victorian, South Australian and Queensland Premier’s Literary Awards and the Children’s Book Council Book of the Year Award and she has also been nominated internationally for the Hans Andersen and Astrid Lindgren Awards. She was appointed the Australian Children’s Laureate for 2020-2021.
