Event description

Using 'The Incedible 5-Point Scale'

Masterclass (Family)

Autism SA, in consultation with the author, has developed a workshop based on Kari Dunn Buron and Mitzi Curtis, ‘The Incredible 5-Point Scale’. The use of a scale to break down abstract social and emotional concepts, and to communicate these parts of a concepts through the use of a colour/number coded system, has been highly effective.

The Masterclass will include:

  • The philosophy behind the program;
  • Looking at the resources;
  •  Overview of the program,
  • How to use the tool for individuals, groups, classrooms and across whole sites (including schools); and
  • How to monitor, tweak and review to ensure success.

Throughout the workshop the presenter will use discussion, activities, and videos to deliver information on the 5 point scale, that will enhance the attendees’ knowledge of autism and 5 point scale and enable them to provide effective support, inclusion and outcomes.

This Masterclass is suitable for parents and carers supporting individuals of all ages.

If this workshop is full, please contact Emma Bennett on ebennett@autismsa.org.au.

Family Workshops are designed for any family member including parents, carers, siblings and extended family members with a loved one on the autism spectrum. The workshops provide examples and strategies that are relevant for family members.
