Story Foundations Part Two: Using your Tasmanian Story

Overview

You’ve done the work of shaping your story, but are you using it?

Does your website, your emails and social posts reflect what makes your work worth choosing, and why it matters that it’s done here in Tasmania? Or do you find yourself defaulting to features, updates and information?

What would change if your content showed how your process, your place, and your choices shape what you offer — and why that matters to your customer?

This two-hour online workshop builds on our Story Foundations Part One: The Art of Brand Storytelling workshop, and focuses on how to use your story in your marketing.

Led by storyteller Penny Terry, the session introduces a simple way to match the right part of your story to the right moment in your customer journey. You’ll learn how to take one story and adapt it across social media, email, website and in-person conversations without overthinking it, and without losing what makes your work distinctly Tasmanian.

This is an online, practical session. You’ll be working throughout, making decisions quickly, and leaving with something you can use straight away.

Why now

Many businesses know why their origin story matters, but when it comes to getting sales, they fall back on what feels easiest to share:

  • What’s new

  • What’s available

  • What’s happening

What often gets missed is the part that helps people choose you; how your work is shaped, what makes it different, and why that matters to your customer.

Interest in Tasmania is strong, and the Tasmanian story is increasingly associated with quality and care. This workshop shows you how to use your story — shaped by place, process and experience — across your sales and marketing, so customers can quickly recognise the value in what you offer.

How it works

This is a fast-paced, practical session designed to get you out of your head and into action.

You’ll be guided through a simple matrix that helps you:

  • identify what your audience needs at different stages

  • choose the right part of your story to use

  • connect it back to place in a way that feels natural

  • adapt it across different platforms without starting from scratch

During the session, you’ll create one clear sales story and then reshape it across social, email and website.

Penny Terry is an author, facilitator and award-winning podcaster known for making communication feel practical and doable. After interviewing more than 20,000 Tasmanians, she’s seen that people rarely lack stories, they just don’t always recognise how to use them.

This workshop is for you if:

  • You’ve completed Story Foundations Part One: The Art of Brand Storytelling or have a clear sense of your story

  • You want to use your Tasmanian story more intentionally in your marketing

  • You’re creating content but it’s not quite landing

  • You’re unsure how to adapt your message across different platforms
