Welcome to Sydney! Explore your new home with our fun sightseeing tours at USU Day Trips. The tours are the perfect chance for students to learn more about the city and make new friends along the way.
Day Trips are open to USU Members ONLY, membership is free for USYD Students click here to join for free TODAY! You can also sign up to our Rewards program to receive a special gift at each location PLUS huge savings on campus year round.
You can choose one tour from the following trip locations:
🛍️ Broadway Shopping Tour
Learn more about your local area and find some great places to eat, hang out and even receive some freebies!
This tour leaves from Verge Gallery located at Jane Foss Russell Plaza and returns to Hermann’s Bar, Butlin Ave.
Please select one tour time option at checkout: 12:30pm, 1:30pm or 2:30pm.
🌻 Aboriginal Heritage Tour at the Botanic Gardens - SOLD OUT
The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney will immerse you in the rich Aboriginal culture of the traditional owners of the Sydney city area, the Gadigal and help you see the gardens in an exciting new way. Discover the history of Warrane (the Gadigal name for Sydney Cove – Circular Quay).
This tour departs at 11:00am from International Student Lounge (ISL) located on Level 4, Wentworth Building (corner of City Rd and Butlin Ave) by bus and return by bus to Hermann’s Bar, Butlin Ave.
🐨 Taronga Zoo - SOLD OUT
Visit one of Australia's most iconic landmarks with free entry and meet some of Australia's cutest (and scariest) animals.
This tour departs from 9:00am from International Student Lounge (ISL) located on Level 4, Wentworth Building (cnr City Rd and Butlin Ave) by bus and return by bus to Hermann’s Bar, Butlin Ave.
🍔 Newtown Food Safari - SOLD OUT
Join a local on a walking tour through Newtown and stop at some of the delicious food vendors along the way, learn a little history about the area and see local street art.
This tour departs and returns to Hermann’s Bar located on Butlin Ave.
Please select one tour time option at checkout: 12:30pm, 1pm or 1:30pm.

All tours are happening concurrently so PLEASE SELECT ONLY ONE OF THE TOURS. We may cancel ticket orders with multiple tours selected.
All tours will take about 3-5 hours from start to finish. Each group will have a friendly student volunteer guide who will be able to answer all your questions and give you some tips and insights on life at USYD.
🥳 Welcome to Sydney Party
After your Day Trip, a bus will take you back to Hermann’s Bar when we’ll be holding a Welcome to Sydney Party. Celebrate your new uni life by making friends from around the world, plus there’ll be arcade games, music, drink specials and a FREE Aussie sausage sizzle for all USYD students.

For Taronga zoo - please attend ISL at 9am IF there are any available tickets due to no shows or last minute cancellations, we will be able to make a ticket available. These will be made available on a first come first serve basis.
For Botanical Garden Heritage Tour - please attend ISL at 11am IF there are any available places due to no shows or last minute cancellations, we will be able to make a ticket available. These will be made available on a first come first serve basis.

FAQs
May I sign up for multiple tours?
No. The tours all take place at the same time, so you are unable to attend more than one. Please only sign up for one tour to ensure we are able to accommodate as many students as possible.
I missed out on my preferred tour. What can I do?
If you'd like to try out another destination that's available, give that a go - we promise they're all great!
What if I will be under 18 years of age on the day of the event?
If you are under 18 years of age you may still participate in the event, but only with your parent of guardian's permission. Please email us and we will provide you with a consent form that they must complete and return.
May I bring my parents with me?
This event is for students only, so your parents are unable to come. We'll take good care of you, and you'll make new friends, we promise!
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Your electronic ticket, which can be found in your email confirmation, is sufficient. To assist us in speeding up the registration process, we ask that you have the QR code ticket downloaded and ready on the day of the event.
What if I don't receive my confirmation email?
