UTS IMNIS 2027 information session
Description
This session will provide you with information about the IMNIS program, how it works, who it's for, and how to apply for the 2027 cohort. You'll hear from representatives of IMNIS as well as the GRS about the UTS selection process.
What is IMNIS?
Industry Mentoring Network in STEM (IMNIS) is an award-winning industry engagement initiative by the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE). IMNIS helps PhD candidates and early-career researchers in STEM-related disciplines build flexible and impactful careers across a variety of sectors, including government and non-profit organisations.
Why participate?
IMNIS is an opportunity to:
· Learn how your expertise and skills can be applied across your sector to make an impact
· Build a mentoring relationship
· Explore career pathways
· Connect with professionals and peers to grow your networks
What does the program entail?
IMNIS offers a comprehensive 12-month program that includes industry-focused professional development activities and events, as well as a guided mentoring relationship with an industry professional.
Each participant is paired with a mentor who provides valuable insights and support in the career areas and aspirations identified by the mentee as part of their program goals. As much as possible, IMNIS matches mentees’ career aspirations with the experience and expertise of mentors.
Who is eligible?
You must be:
· In a STEM or a STEM-related discipline (for example, a social scientist studying the cultural impacts of technology would be eligible)
· In your second or third year of a PhD (full-time equivalent) or within 5 years of completing your PhD at UTS (as of 2027)
· Committed to investing in your professional growth and exploring the broad spectrum of career opportunities available in non-academic sectors
