UTS Tech Festival 2022: Rover Demonstration

UTS Tech Festival (June 20 – July 01, 2022 ) is a two weeks festival of events, showcases, hackathons, workshops, masterclasses, seminars, competitions, industry-student engagement and much more! Our goal is to bring together students, academics and industry to foster learning, inspiration, share ideas and promote innovation.

We’re excited to welcome you to our campus for the "Rover Team Demonstration" which is part of the UTS Tech Festival 2022!

Event Description

Have you ever seen a mars or a lunar rover before? Ever wondered how to make one? Well look no further. At 1pm during the Tech Festival the UTS rover team will be showcasing the very first UTS rover. We competed in the Australian Rover Challenge and we put up quite a performance. Our dedicated team will be driving the rover around Alumni Green and you’ll get to see first-hand what goes on in mission control.

About Rover Team

Our team was founded just last year with the aim of being the very first UTS rover team. We competed in the Australian Rover challenge (ARC) and went up against teams all around the country from Queensland, Adelaide, and Melbourne and in our very first year, defying all odds and expectations, we came in 3rd beating the Queensland and the Adelaide team. But next year we’re aiming higher than just the ARC. We’re planning on competing in the University Rover Challenge (URC) which is hosted in the USA and we’ll be up against rovers from around the world.

Our team provides an engineering experience like no other. As part of the team (currently more than 30 members), you will learn technical skills ranging from electronics to advanced software to mechanical design. Not to mention the intangible skills you’ll gain from working with an actual engineering team, developing you into an engineer better prepared for the real world.
