Event description

Introducing Design@Home

If you're looking to start your degree in Semester 1 2026, we're introducing Design@Home through The University of Western Australia's School of Design, a foundation year program with online and flexible study modes to suit your personal circumstances.
Our program is tailored for students based in regional or remote areas within WA, or beyond.

This dedicated first year program combines online learning with short immersive in-person experiences and has been developed for students enrolling in the Bachelor of Environmental Design degree with a major in Architecture or Landscape Architecture.

Studying 'at Home'

If you're living outside of the Perth Metropolitan Area you may remain 'at home' for the duration of this foundation year while remotely attending dedicated online classes with a cohort of students dispersed across the regions, in WA and beyond. Classes will be live and interactive with teaching staff based on the UWA Perth Campus at the School of Design. You have the option of attending interactive online classes either on-site at UWA's regional campus in Albany or from home.

Scheduled online contact hours will be approximately 12 hours per week. Once per semester, a week of immersive in-person classes will be conducted either on the UWA Perth campus or at one or more regional locations.

You may enrol full time or part-time. While commencement in Semester 1 is encouraged, you may also commence in Semester 2.

Where can a Bachelor of Environmental Design take you?

Our Bachelor of Environmental Design provides you with study choices that lead to exciting careers essential for the inventive and sustainable design of future places in metropolitan and regional cities, towns and suburbs. You can progress from this course to postgraduate degrees in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Urban Design, amongst others.

Successful completion of the three-year undergraduate Bachelor of Environmental Design can lead to the two-year (full-time or part-time equivalent) Master of Architecture, the qualification required for eventual registration as an Architect; or the two-year (full-time or part-time equivalent) Master of Landscape Architecture, leading to registration as a Landscape Architect.
