How can I prepare for the fair?
All participants are encouraged to network and take advantage of the 3-hour session to learn more about the casual opportunities and the application process. To prepare for the event, below is a list of tips to help any applicant stand out:
- Bring your resume. Physical copies are useful for employers hiring on-the-spot.
- This is a recruitment event and an opportunity for you to network with industry contacts--present yourself well by dressing appropriately.
- Take advantage of the career resources on CareerLab to polish up on your resume and interview skills
- Prepare questions you would like to ask employers regarding pay and working arrangements. For more information about your rights, you may refer to the Fair Work website.
- UWA students needing help with their resume can visit the Careers Drop-in desk at Student Central to chat with a Careers Adviser. The drop-in desk is located at Counter 3, Student Central and is open Mon-Fri from 9:30am – 12:30pm.

Some questions to ask and questions to avoid:
Ask:
- What experience do you like applicants to have?
- What words would you use to describe the company culture?
- What are your organisations busiest periods?
- How flexible is the scheduling for this position?
- Are there opportunities for growth or advancement within the company for casual employees?
Avoid asking:
- What does your company do?
- How much would I earn?
- Why should I apply?
- What can you offer me?
- What's the application close date? - check flyers and the company website before asking
