UX Australia - Juniors Workshop

This workshop is being run as part of UX Australia 2021: 

Improving your research and synthesis

Have you recently finished studying a UX design course but need some help with improving how to understand your users? 

Knowing your user and understanding their needs is such an important part of the user experience process but can often be overlooked in many of the design courses. Without having a clear approach and robust insights, designs will not be inline with user needs or expectations leading to a biased and disappointing user experience.

This workshop is designed to help you improve how you identify and translate research into evidenced based design by focusing on:

• Identification and Persona Recruitment
• Development of Unbiased Research Plans
• Passive and Active listening Techniques
• Interview Facilitation
• Tagging Taxonomy
• Research Synthesis

This will be a workshop including many real life case studies, recommended tools and templates for you to use in your own research. Having a solid foundation for your research improves the outcomes for your users.

Agenda:

• 1:00pm - Sign-in, find your group, take a seat..
• 1:15pm - Who is the user? Identifying and Recruitment of Personas
• 2:00pm - Develop a Research Plan 
  
• 2:45pm - Quick coffee/tea/biscuit..
• 3:00pm - Interview facilitation + Listening Techniques
• 3:45pm - Developing a tagging taxonomy template
• 4:15pm - Synthesising interviews
• 5:00pm - Finished for the day...

This will be an active learning workshop with activities designed to scaffold and enable you to utilise these techniques in your current workplace, team or research. looking forward to kicking off the UX Australia program and to seeing you online on the 23rd of August.
