Event description

VA S.A.V.E. is a suicide prevention training designed to help community members recognize the signs that a Veteran may be at risk for suicide and know how to respond. The acronym stands for:

  • S – Signs of suicidal thinking: Learn the warning signs and risk factors.

  • A – Ask the question: How to ask directly and safely about suicidal thoughts.

  • V – Validate: Understand how to listen with empathy and acknowledge the Veteran’s feelings.

  • E – Encourage & Expedite help: Know how to connect the Veteran with appropriate support, including the Veterans Crisis Line.
